New Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Finally, Call of Duty has released another sequel the 9th sequel): Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. It released in the United States on November 18th. There were lines growing and people camping outside of gaming and electronic stores hours before the release time at midnight. 

For those who are unaware (if there are any), Call of Duty, specifically Black Ops 2, is a video game formatted for the perspective of a first person shooter. It is published by Activision and developed by Treyarch. 

Every single one of the Call of Duty games has been extremely successful, raking in huge profits; Black Ops 2 is no exception. 

Within 24 hours, the new Black Ops 2 game grossed over $500 million in sales, creating a new record and making Black Ops 2 one of the biggest launches in entertainment “of all time” (The previous record was $400 million for Modern Warfare 3). In the remainder of the month of November alone, 7.5 million copies were sold. Sales are also projected to skyrocket in the month of December because of holiday shopping. 

Additionally, Activision recently announced that the game grossed $1 billion in sales within the first 15 days of release. To put this into perspective, Black Ops 2 beat our James Cameron’s movie Avatar, which grossed $1 billion in 17 days, and Modern Warfare 3, which grossed $1 billion in 16 days. 

This financial achievement is already so fantastic; it is hard to imagine what the numbers will look like after the holiday season closes.
